Seniors and Students Collaborate on Mural for Community Service Project

Atrium Village residents spent time with volunteer high school students at Art with a Heart painting flowers for a mural to be placed at My Sister's Place Women's Center in Baltimore.

Local high school students and their teachers recently joined forces with residents of Atrium Village, a senior living community in Owings Mills, to collaborate on an Art with a Heart community service project.

Founded in 2000, Art with a Heart is a Baltimore-based nonprofit with the mission of enhancing the lives of people in need through visual art.

At Art with a Heart’s headquarters in the Woodberry-Hampden area, Atrium residents, students and teachers painted flowers for a mural to be featured at My Sister’s Place Women’s Center, which is Baltimore’s longest-serving day shelter and resource center for women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty.

The two-hour event on Dec. 16 was part of the Art Experience Program at the newly renovated Atrium Village.
