“Only the pure in heart can make a good soup.”-
-Ludwig van Beethoven.
Owings Mills’ Atrium Village senior living community partnered Nov. 17 with Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland and other community groups to host a soup-tasting event to raise funds for local seniors grappling with food insecurity.
“Let’s Soup Together” featured homemade soups from around the community, including a lobster bisque made by Chef Todd Kalkstein, Atrium Village’s dining director.
Attendees of the two-hour, Thanksgiving-themed gathering purchased tasting cups of which 100 percent of proceeds were donated to Meals on Wheels to reach its annual fundraising goal of more than $5,000.
Among the attendees were Atrium residents, their families, and local public officials and community service members.
Meals on Wheels serves nearly 1.5 million seniors in their homes and provides 461,637 meals.
