Not so long ago, the concept of getting away and recharging the batteries meant hopping over the pond and spending a week or two in London or Paris, or jetting off on a tour of Asia or Africa. Maybe a trip to the West Coast, or flying down to the Caribbean to soak up the sun.

Then the pandemic hit and our lives have never quite been the same.

With vaccination rollouts underway, it feels to most of us like there’s now light at the end of the tunnel. And with pandemic fatigue in full throttle, many people are chomping at the bit to see the world again.

At the same time, many Americans are still feeling a bit leery about traveling to faraway destinations and are opting for getaways closer to home.

Fortunately here in Maryland, we have a wealth of options for safe and inspiring locales that are within driving distance and offer an array of pleasures for your wanderlust. The following are some of our offerings and suggestions.
