DESCRIPTION:Beth Shalom Congregation in Columbia will welcome Samson Nderitu Njogu as its rabbinic intern-in-residence on the weekend of Apr. 12-14. \nNjogu is from Uganda’s Abayudaya Jewish community and is a rabbinical student at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. \nMembers of the Ugandan Jewish community praying in synagogue. (File photo)\nThe weekend will feature a sampling African Jewish traditions and melodies\, and Njogu will speak about his own Jewish journey and the Abayudaya community. Njogu has served as president of the Abayudaya’s youth movement and tutored young community members preparing for their b’nai mitzvah.
