DESCRIPTION:Beth Shalom Congregation in Columbia will welcome Samson Nderitu Njogu as its rabbinic intern-in-residence on the weekend of Apr. 12-14. \nNjogu is from Uganda’s Abayudaya Jewish community and is a rabbinical student at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. \nMembers of the Ugandan Jewish community praying in synagogue. (File photo)\nThe weekend will feature a sampling African Jewish traditions and melodies\, and Njogu will speak about his own Jewish journey and the Abayudaya community. Njogu has served as president of the Abayudaya’s youth movement and tutored young community members preparing for their b’nai mitzvah. Each year\, thousands of shufflers line up their red\, white and striped socks to show RMH families they have the support of the community as they fight the battle of their lives. \nRegister today as an individual or invite your friends and family to make a team. The family-friendly 5k & Walk course starts at the Ronald McDonald House and takes shufflers through downtown Baltimore along the harbor and back up to the “Big Heart at the House.” After the race\, shufflers are invited to stick around for “Celebration Village\,” which will have fun activities\, food vendors\, live music and special guests All registered shufflers will receive a special race-day running shirt\, a 2024 Red Shoe Shuffle medal\, plus some great RMH Shuffle swag. \nRMHC Maryland is an independent non-profit\, with donations providing 100% of RMHC Maryland’s annual operating budget.
