SUMMARY:James Year: Work in Progress (Opening Reception)
DESCRIPTION:Join Gallery 1448 for the opening reception of James Year: Work in Progress. This exhibition provides a visual bridge to the magic\, culture\, and hardship experienced by working-class rural Americans. These communities are often misunderstood or overlooked\, yet they carry generations of resilience and stories worth telling. The images in this show honor those who work for a living. \nYear grew up on a working-class Iowa farm\, served in the Air Force\, traveled the world\, and eventually received his Master’s degree from Syracuse University. He was awarded a prestigious Professional Grant from the Alexia Foundation in 2023 for his master’s thesis: Stealing Fire: The Collision of Artificial Intelligence and Trucking. The news organization More Perfect Union adapted his thesis project into a video\, which went viral. \nThe exhibition runs September 6 – 27. There will also be a closing reception on Saturday\, September 27 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Admission is free. Gallery hours are by appointment. Contact James Year at Jamesyear@proton.me / 319-400-1546.
