SUMMARY:THE SHARK IS BROKEN at Vagabond Players
DESCRIPTION:Vagabond Players continues their historic 110th Season— and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic film JAWS—with the Baltimore premiere of THE SHARK IS BROKEN\, written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon and directed by Vagabond veteran Stephen Deininger. \nFresh off acclaimed runs in London’s West End and on Broadway\, this behind-the-scenes look at one of the most iconic films ever made is as hilarious as it is heartfelt. Return to the waters where it all began: three actors\, two fragile egos\, and one very uncooperative shark. This could be the biggest disaster in recent Hollywood history\, helmed by a director that no one thinks can pull it off. In between swilling Tab and tanning on deck\, Roy Scheider runs interference between neurotic Richard Dreyfus and the acid drunk wit of Robert Shaw as they navigate endless filming delays and screwups on a rickety lobster boat. \nStarring returning Vagabond Players actors\, Doug Krehbel\, Andy Belt and Matthew Lindsay Payne\, THE SHARK IS BROKEN offers a delicious insider’s look at the bickering\, brawling and back stabbing among a trio of soon-to-be legendary actors who just happen to be making a monster movie that will change the course of cinema history. Frustrations\, petty rivalries and no-so-secret vices all come to the surface in a comedy that also contains a deeper story of fathers and sons\, their mortality\, and the legacy they leave. \nTHE SHARK IS BROKEN runs January 9 – February 1\, 2026\, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. And check out a special “Thursdays on Broadway” performance January 29 at 8 p.m. when all tickets are just $12. \nFor tickets\, cast and show info visit vagabondplayers.org. Special discounts and group rates are available online. \n

SUMMARY:Art with a Heart Community Art Workshops: Birdhouses!
DESCRIPTION:Community art is a collaborative creative process wherein multiple people’s artistic expression works toward a common goal. This workshop will guide participants through the process of embellishing birdhouses to be installed along the fence in Third Space’s outdoor living room area. No art experience is required! \nJust like many hands will touch and change each birdhouse along its journey\, shifting larger societal values and beliefs takes the effort of many different people. Creating a birdhouse is the act of intentionally building a safe space for birds to start new life. Birds universally symbolize freedom and peace. As participants create their birdhouses\, they should consider which colors and symbols you can use to represent what does a safe community\, rich with cultural diversity\, looks like. Each community art workshop will last two hours. Everyone is welcome! \nArt with a Heart provides interactive visual arts classes to underserved Baltimore-area children\, youth and adults in schools\, community centers\, group homes\, shelters\, permanent housing facilities\, hospitals and senior facilities. Art with a Heart’s mission is to enhance the lives of people in need through visual art. In an effort to achieve its mission\, Art with a Heart works to harness the benefits of arts education to cultivate positive changes in behavior and general attitudes among its participants. In addition to its core programming\, Art with a Heart offers a complement of other initiatives including service learning (both in the office and at HeARTwares\, Art with a Heart’s social enterprise/retail store)\, a job program\, a leadership program and significant community service/public art efforts. Art with a Heart has extensive experience working with diverse populations and has facilitated over 300 public art projects In Baltimore and beyond \nAlso on Feb 18th from 5pm-7pm
