SUMMARY:Springwell Senior Living to Honor Peabody Musicians-In-Residence
DESCRIPTION:Springwell Senior Living will host a special celebration on Monday\, May 19\, at 2 p.m. to mark the 10th anniversary of its groundbreaking partnership with the Peabody Institute’s Musician-in-Residence (MIR) program. \nHeld in Springwell’s chapel\, the event will feature a retrospective program led by current MIR and internationally acclaimed pianist Myroslav Mykhailenko\, honoring each of the Peabody Conservatory musicians who have called Springwell home over the past decade. \nThe celebration will include a combination of live music\, in-person appearances and video messages from past musicians\, residents and staff. Former MIRs will reflect on their experiences\, and residents will share how the power of music has touched their lives. \nSpringwell was the first community to host a Peabody student musician in 2015 when guitarist Julien Xuereb helped pilot the MIR concept\, now a cornerstone of Peabody’s community engagement and experiential learning portfolios. Since then\, MIRs included cellists\, guitarists\, flutists\, lutenists and pianists\, all bringing live performances\, open rehearsals and spontaneous musical moments into the everyday lives of Springwell’s residents. \nThe May 19 event will highlight all seven musicians who have served as MIRs at Springwell\, including: Xuereb (guitar)\, Sarah Lynn (baroque flute\, remembered in tribute)\, Elias Leceta Gomez-Nebreda (cello)\, Cameron Welke (lute)\, Evanghelina Ciobanu (cello)\, Andres Felipe Palacios Rodas (guitar)\, and Mykhailenko (piano). \nPeabody’s MIR program\, now active in several senior living communities across Baltimore\, is part of a broader effort to redefine music education for the 21st century — offering young musicians housing in exchange for regular performances and enriching intergenerational engagement. \nThe celebration will close with a short concert featuring Mykhailenko and two of his fellow MIR alumni performing side by side. \nSpringwell Senior Living is located at 2211 W. Rogers Avenue in Mount Washington. For information or to attend the event\, visit springwellseniorliving.com or contact Samantha@c-360.agency \n  \n

SUMMARY:Baltimore Unity Suppers: Finding Our Flowers — The Power of Cultural Roots in Our Artistic Expressions
DESCRIPTION:Breaking bread together is a powerful way to get to know someone\, learn other’s stories\, and build community. This month\, Baltimore Unity Suppers will spotlight artistic expression from various cultural backgrounds\, celebrating how our ancestry\, identities\, and lived experiences shape the stories we tell and the art we create. Highlighting these expressions is not only a way to honor where we come from\, it’s also a powerful act of connection and freedom. In a world that often fragments or flattens our narratives\, gathering to share our creative voices affirms our humanity and deepens our sense of belonging with one another. \nEnjoy a meal and conversation around what brings joy into our lives\, navigate the journey of being human and explore the idea of centering the core truths that guide us from within. \nThird Space is excited to host this meal in partnership with Dazia Wallerson from Baltimore Unity Suppers by Leap Forward and Kohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms of the Jews Of Color Mishpacha Project.

SUMMARY:PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE at Vagabond Players
DESCRIPTION:Vagabond Players is thrilled to close out the 109th season with a comedy of cosmic proportions – PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE by legendary comedian\, actor\, and writer Steve Martin. \nIt’s 1904\, and who should walk into a popular Parisian bistro but young Pablo Picasso – bursting with self confidence\, an overactive libido and ready to set the art world afire with cubism. But wait\, it just so happens that the brilliant young Albert Einstein (working feverishly on a Theory of Relativity that will transform physics) happens to be at the Lapin Agile as well! With whip-smart dialogue\, philosophical musings\, and rapid-fire comedy\, Steve Martin’s play hilariously explores what happens when art\, science\, and ego collide. \nMartin’s own comic genius plays fast and loose with fact\, fame\, and fortune as these two geniuses and a handful of bystanders debate with infectious dizziness the new century’s coming achievements. Outrageous\, fantastical\, and packing a surprise punch you’ll never see coming\, PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE is a joyous celebration of the nature of genius. \n“Artful comedy …. Steve Martin tosses in goofy anachronisms and word play and convention flouting twists with the distractible glee of a kid discovering new toys.” – The San Diego Union-Tribune \n“PICASSO AT THE LAPINE AGILE is both intellectually stimulating and laugh out loud funny.” – Variety \nPICASSO AT THE LAPINE AGILE opens Friday\, May 30 and runs through Sunday\, June 22\, with weekly performances Fridays/Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. And check out a special “Thursdays on Broadway” performance June 19 at 8 p.m. when all tickets are just $10. \nFor tickets\, cast and show info visit vagabondplayers.org. \nSpecial discounts and group rates are available online. \nLocated at 806 S. Broadway\, Vagabond Players is easily accessible to patrons.

SUMMARY:Taste of Third Space: 10 Sacred Ideas for Right Now | Open House | Garden Party | Day of Learning
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 1\, join Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh for a taste of what makes Third Space so special. There will be plenty of good food and good company and—if the weather cooperates—a chance to schmooze (chat) in the sunshine. You’ll also have a whole menu of opportunities for learning—whether through play\, learning a new text\, conversation or all of the above. \nYou’ll be invited to join Third Space for any or all that appeal: \n• Have a nosh (snack).\n• Meet new friends or connect with old ones (or both!).\n• Tour the hundred-year-old building\, with a few new touches.\n• Learn something new.\n• Enjoy a refreshing beverage (both alcoholic and non).\n• Plant a seed (literal or figurative).\n• “Shop” the Judaica & Book Swap.* \nStay for an hour or stay for the day—Third Space can’t wait to welcome you! It’s free to attend\, but please register so they know you’re coming! \nLocal rabbis and teachers will offer sessions throughout the building and throughout the day\, all related to the theme: 10 Sacred Ideas For Right Now. (Psst…Right Now means it applies to YOU! You belong.) \nThe day culminates with Rabbi Jessy in conversation with this year’s Taste of Third Space scholar in residence: Laynie Soloman. \nLaynie is a teacher and Torah-lover who seeks to uplift the piously irreverent\, queer\, and subversive spirit of rabbinic text and theology. \nYou’ll have the chance to think about the nature of wisdom\, who and what counts\, and how we can and must co-create a world shaped by our needs and informed by the wisdom of Jewish text and tradition. \n* Do you have Judaica that needs a new home? Maybe a favorite Jewish book that is ready to find its place on someone else’s shelf? Contribute to Third Space’s Judaica & Book Swap. They will be collecting items between now and June 1\, when those who have Judaica and book needs can browse—and take home!—the swap offerings. To offer Judaica or books\, please bring no more than one bankers’ box worth to Third Space (2001 Liberty Heights Ave. Our front door faces Holmes Avenue\, under the black awning) on a Tuesday\, Wednesday or Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm. Ring the doorbell when you arrive and a Third Space staff member will meet you at the door! Please do not leave boxes at the entrance.
