SUMMARY:Sukkot Soiree
DESCRIPTION:Help fill Third Space’s sukkah (literally “booth”) with food\, music\, and celebration! Shake the lulav and etrog\, enjoy a harvest-themed vegetarian dinner\, and boogie to live music. \nIn ancient times\, during Sukkot\, known as zman simchateinu (our season of joy)\, the whole community gathered to finish harvesting the season’s produce to prepare for the coming winter. A time of transition\, trepidation\, and celebration\, those with the most and those with the least were indistinguishable\, because all were obligated to celebrate with joy. So too shall we gather in our sukkah in communal joy and celebration. \n*Welcome in Shabbat with Happy (Hour) Shabbat from 5 – 6 pm.

SUMMARY:HAIR at Vagabond Players
DESCRIPTION:The historic Vagabond Players—the nation’s oldest continuously operating little theater—kicks off its milestone 110th Season with HAIR\, the groundbreaking “American Tribal Love-Rock Musical” with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragnia and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. This revolutionary work\, which stormed Broadway in 1968 and forever transformed American musical theater\, channels the passion\, rebellion\, and hope of a generation on the brink of change. \nDirected by TJ Lukacsina in his Vagabond Players debut\, with music direction by Stephen Deininger and choreography by Rikki Howie Lacewell\, this bold new production reimagines HAIR for a modern audience while honoring its free-spirited roots. This exciting\, revolutionary and theatrical celebration of 1960’s counterculture was a rebellion against the establishment\, war\, and social repression that championed freedom\, individuality\, sexual liberation\, racial equality\, AND captured the spirit of a generation in revolt. \nBrimming with iconic songs like “Aquarius\,” “Good Morning Starshine\,” “Let the Sunshine In\,” “I Got Life\,” and “Where Do I Go?”\, HAIR captures the joy\, defiance\, and raw emotion of a community daring to question authority and celebrate individuality. More than 50 years later\, it still vibrates with an energy and drive that contributed to it being a phenomenon and its messages of peace\, equality\, and love still ring out as powerfully as ever. \nHAIR runs October 17 – November 23\, 2025\, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. And check out a special “Thursdays on Broadway” performance Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. when all tickets are just $18. \nFor tickets\, cast and show info visit vagabondplayers.org. SUMMARY:Tour of Caulkers' Houses in Fells Point
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Ship Caulkers’ Houses to discover the history of the free and enslaved community of Black ship caulkers who lived and worked in Fells Point during the mid-19th century. The Caulkers’ House are located at 612 and 614 S. Wolfe Street in Fells Point \nBetween 1842 and 1854\, the buildings became homes to African American ship caulkers Richard Jones\, Henry Scott and John Whittington. The shipbuilding industry in Fells Point depended on free and enslaved black labor. Caulking\, the process by which a ship is waterproofed and sealed\, was dominated by Black workers\, including Frederick Douglass who worked as a caulker in Baltimore in the 1830s. For a time\, the Black Caulker Association held a near monopoly over Baltimore’s caulking industry. \nThe houses on Wolfe Street were named the Caulker Houses in honor of the caulkers who lived there. The houses are also known as the “Two Sisters Houses” after sisters Mary Leeke Rowe Dashiell and Eleanor Marine Dashiell\, descendants of the Leeke\, Marine and Dashiell families. They owned the houses prior to the acquisition by the Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill and Fell’s Point.
