He’s won a Pulitzer, three Tonys, an Emmy, three Grammys and was nominated for an Oscar. Plus, he was presented a Kennedy Center honor, and he’s barely in his early 40s!

Now, award-winning actor, singer, songwriter, playwright, director, producer and rapper Lin-Manuel Miranda is coming to The Ivy Bookshop in Mount Washington on Tuesday, June 15, for a virtual book launch event for “In The Heights: Finding Home.”

Miranda, 41, the New York-born creator and star of the acclaimed Broadway musical and global phenomenon “Hamilton,” will be joined at the event from 8-9 p.m. by co-authors Quiara Alegría Hudes and Jeremy McCarter.

Published by Random House, the book tells the story of the humble beginnings and evolution of Miranda’s musical “In The Heights,” which is set over a three-day period in the largely Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City. The book offers anecdotes and memories about the show’s early rehearsals in a bookshop basement to its arrival on the Great White Way.

The show opened on Broadway in 2008 and won four Tony Awards, including for best musical. A film adaptation of “In The Heights” will be released next month starring Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Jimmy Smits, Marc Anthony and Miranda. The film will be directed by Jon M. Chu, director of “Crazy Rich Asians.”

The Ivy lauded the book launch event as “sure to be an unforgettable conversation on creativity, community and finding home. This is your chance to hear directly from the creative team behind the timeless story of how one neighborhood – Washington Heights – can speak to the world.”

The Ivy Bookshop is located at 5928 Falls Rd. For information or to register for the book launch event, click here.
