Audio Recording Allegedly Features Pikesville High Principal Making Offensive Comments

Local media outlets are reporting that Baltimore County Public Schools has launched an internal investigation Wednesday, Jan. 17, into an audio recording of Pikesville High School Principal Eric Eiswert allegedly making offensive racist and antisemitic statements.

Some Baltimore County teachers’ union leaders have contended that the recording was made through artificial intelligence.

In the recording that recently circulated online, a voice that is allegedly Eiswert’s complains about low test scores among “ungrateful” Black students and about complaining Jews, as well as “dumbasses here every day.”

In a statement, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers said that the school district has not yet confirmed the authenticity of the recording, which features “highly offensive and inappropriate statements about African American students, Pikesville High School staff, and Pikesville’s Jewish community. …

“I understand how upsetting this recording is for many members of the Team BCPS community,” said Rogers. “We will not tolerate disparaging remarks about any member of the Team BCPS community.”

Baltimore County Council Chair Izzy Patoka (D-2nd) told the Baltimore Sun that he found the recording “extremely disturbing. … Because it’s so serious, I want to be sure of its authenticity.”

In a statement, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. said: “The statements being circulated are abhorrent and my administration is providing our full support to BCPS as they conduct a thorough investigation. Following the conclusion of this investigation, I know swift action will be taken to hold those involved accountable.”

Eiswert came to Pikesville High in 2021. He previously served as assistant principal at Catonsville High School.
