Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin to Be Honored at Annual Convention
The Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations of Maryland will hold its 108th annual convention on Thursday, May 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom Congregation, 7310 Park Heights Avenue.

The keynote speaker at the convention will be Meredith R. Weisel, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League. The theme of the gathering will be “Breaking Down Barriers to Combat Hate.
“The honoree awards — presented to one woman from each organization — will be titled “A Woman Who Builds Bridges for a Better Future.”
The event’s main award, the E.B.Hirsh Award, will be given to Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin, an author and environmental activist.

Past Hirsh Award recipients include local lay leaders Beth Goldsmith, Betsy Narrow, Alyson Friedman, Debra “Debs” Weinberg, Myrna Cardin, Dr. Nancy Aiken and Annette G. Saxon.
Rabbi Cardin is the founder of the Jewish Women’s Resource Center and in 2011 was named “10 Women to Watch” by Jewish Woman magazine.
