If you’re a Howard or Baltimore County resident who likes fine dining, chances are you’re familiar with Stanford Grill and/or Stanford Kitchen. Perhaps you’ve noticed that both restaurants, part of the Columbia-based Blueridge Restaurant Group, have recently changed their names to Glenwood’s. In recent months, CEO David Jones has become aware that some customers are confused by the name changes. He wants to set the record straight.
“Some people have been concerned that we’ve sold the company,” says Jones, who wants to assure long-time diners, that nothing could be further than the truth. Indeed, the restaurants have been so successful, that the company is expanding to other parts of the country. That expansion and related federal trademark issues is what necessitated the name change.

“We were getting a lot of emails from people traveling to Maryland, asking if we could open a restaurant in their states,” says Jones. “We felt that the time had come to do that.”
Regardless, adds Jones, “people can expect the same level of food, service and ambiance they’ve come to expect.”

Likewise, diners needn’t worry that their favorite restaurant will become just another chain. “We’ll still offer a casual yet upscale dining experience. We’ll still have chefs in every kitchen, chef-driven menus and weekly specials,” says Jones. “We’ve got the same owner and the same employees. All of the food we serve will still be made from scratch in the restaurants’ kitchens.”
