A local Holocaust survivor, Susi Rossman (nee Margulies) passed away on Friday, Nov. 21. The Northwest Baltimore resident was 96.
“Susi’s life was defined by courage, having survived the Holocaust, and built a life filled with love and purpose,” her family wrote on the website of Sol Levinson & Bros. “She adored reading and could often be found with a book in hand. Susi obtained a degree in accounting and worked for a number of years in the insurance industry.
“Her greatest devotion was to her family, spanning five generations who were the heart of her world. She will be dearly missed.”
Rossman is survived by her children, Carol (Alan) Szaks, Michael (Dorothy) Rossman and Jo-Ann (the late George) Mittelman; and 32 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Sophie Friedman, stepdaughter to Sidney Friedman, and daughter of Michel Margulies, who was murdered during the Holocaust.
She was predeceased by her husband, Mark Rossman, and her son, Leo Rossman.
Services will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3:30 p.m. at Chevra Ahavas Chesed Cemetery, 9780 Liberty Road in Randallstown.

The family will receive visitors at 6605 Greenspring Avenue in Baltimore from 6-8 p.m. Shiva will be observed from Sunday through Friday, Nov. 28. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday and 3-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
