Reva Frankle, who worked as a nurse in the local Jewish community for more than 50 years, passed away on Thursday, May 28. The Baltimore resident was 95.
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Frankle was born Reva Nadel and graduated from Norfolk’s Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in 1949.
“When I think of home, it is always Norfolk,” she posted on social media in 2017.
Frankle moved to Baltimore to attend the old Sinai Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1952. While in nursing school, she met her future husband of more than 50 years, Jerome Martin Frankle.
Jerry Frankle passed away in June of 2008.

“From the very beginning, Jerry was completely smitten,” the Frankle family wrote on the website of Sol Levinson & Bros. “Together they built a marriage that lasted more than fifty years and a home that often felt like something straight out of ‘Leave It to Beaver.'”
For five decades, Reva Frankle worked as a nurse at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and as a private nurse, until retiring in 2005.
She also worked for more than three decades as a nurse at Camp Airy in Western Maryland.
“Nursing was not simply her profession,” her family wrote. “It was part of who she was. … She carried that same warmth throughout her life and was fortunate to travel the world, always returning home with stories and memories. Reva also had her opinions about the politics and events of the day.”
Frankle is survived by her children, Scott (Lisa) Frankle, and Rick (Pam) Frankle; her grandchildren, Amy (Rodney) Fox, Jory (Missy) Frankle, Seth (Shelby) Frankle, and Hilary (Jacob) Felderstein; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Frankle, Harper Frankle, Emmy Frankle, Oliver Frankle, Lucy Frankle, Eli Felderstein, and Rue Felderstein. Frankle is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; her siblings, Janet Morell, Harriette Michaels, and Morris Nadel; and by her parents, Bertha and Max Nadel.
“More than anything, Reva found her greatest joy in the people she loved,” posted her family. “She treasured being a Mom, Bubby, and Great Bubby and shared an especially close bond with her daughters in law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved her countless friends and her favorite pastime, shopping! Her warmth, independence, sense of fun, and caring heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”
Services for Frankle will be held on Sunday, May 31, at noon at Sol Levinson’s Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville. Interment at Mikro Kodesh Beth Israel Cemetery, 6700 Bowleys Lane.
