Amy Shlossman, senior vice president of LifeBridge Health and president of Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center, will leave the Baltimore-based organization in August to become chief executive officer of Oregon Health and Sciences University Health.

Leslie Simmons, executive vice president and chief operating officer of LifeBridge Health, will serve as interim president of Sinai and Grace Medical while a national search is conducted for Shlossman’s successor.

Since joining LifeBridge Health in July of 2023, Shlossman has worked at improving quality, expanding access to care and building a deeply engaged workforce.

Under her leadership, Sinai recently earned the distinguished honor from the Mid-Atlantic Patient Safety Center for patient safety innovation, reflecting measurable improvements in care coordination, quality outcomes and team engagement.

She also oversaw completion of the $61.6 million transformation of Grace Medical Center, modernizing the campus and expanding vital services for West Baltimore, and helped lead the opening of The Factory, the West Baltimore Renaissance Foundation’s community opportunity center supporting workforce development, food access and population health.

Other significant achievements during Shlossman’s tenure include the $50 million renovation and expansion of the Sinai Hospital emergency department and the new 125,000-square-foot Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building, set to open this summer, bringing together all outpatient cancers services at Sinai in a modern, patient-centered facility.

“Amy’s leadership has strengthened Sinai and Grace, making a lasting difference in the communities we serve,” said Simmons. “She brought a clear vision for advancing quality, access and engagement, and she inspired our teams to deliver on that vision every day. Her leadership has strengthened our hospitals and helped position them for continued success. We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her the very best in this next chapter.”

A Phoenix native, Shlossman described her time at LifeBridge Health as deeply meaningful.

“I am deeply grateful to our extraordinary team members and proud of what we have achieved together across Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center,” she said. “I came to Maryland inspired by LifeBridge Health’s commitment to community-centered care, and what I found has exceeded every expectation. Together, our teams have transformed care delivery — building a culture where every voice matters, elevating quality to the top in the state and expanding access, so more patients receive timely care.

“Behind every improvement is a patient whose experience was better because of our team,” said Shlossman. “It has been a true privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, board members and community partners.”

The move to the Portland-based Oregon Health and Sciences University Health represents a homecoming for Shlossman, who previously served as chief executive officer of the American Red Cross in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Last December, LifeBridge Health announced that Jennifer Nickoles would become the system’s next president and chief executive officer. She assumed the role on Mar. 1, succeeding Neil M. Meltzer.
