The Avenue Kitchen & Bar, at 911 W. 36th Street in Hampden, will host the second event in its series of fundraisers to support colon cancer research and the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, The first fundraiser, held on Aug. 7, raised more than $20,000.

The initiative is especially meaningful to the restaurant’s owner, Patrick Dahlgren, who recently began chemotherapy treatment at Johns Hopkins after being diagnosed with colon cancer. Dahlgren has been a dedicated supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and is now focusing on this personal cause.

“The generosity and love we’ve experienced have been truly uplifting,” said Dahlgren. “We’re eager to build on this success and continue raising funds for this crucial cause.”

Each fundraising event will feature special menus, entertainment and opportunities for guests to contribute to the cause. All proceeds will go directly to the Kimmel Cancer Center to support their cutting-edge research and treatment programs.

At the Aug. 21st event, a $20 donation at the door will include two complimentary drinks and a chance to participate in a gift card grab bag, featuring contributions from some of Baltimore’s finest restaurants.
