Great Talk Event to Focus on Social Media
The local nonprofit Great Talk Inc., in partnership with the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute at the Johns Hopkins University, will present “Social Media: Its Effect on Free Speech, the News and Social Norms” on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 7 p.m. at the BW Technology Park at UMBC South, 1450 S. Rolling Road.
The panel discussion of experts will feature Jennifer Keohane, associate professor and program director of digital communication at the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Baltimore; Dr. Elizabeth M H Newbury, director of the Serious Games Initiative for the Wilson Center think tank in Washington, D.C.; and Dr. Lance Yong Jin Park, professor at the School of Communications at Howard University and a faculty associate at Harvard Law School.
The moderator will be Mark Feldstein, Richard Eaton Chair of Broadcast Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park.
This event will be free in-person and livestream via WebEx.
