The SEED School of Maryland has been selected as the beneficiary of the eighth annual HeBrOpen Golf and Pickleball Tournament, which will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 am at Woodholme Country Club, 300 Woodholme Ave. in Pikesville. The event schedule includes scramble format golf, pickleball tournament, lunch, reception and dinner. A full field of golfers are expected to participate. The goal is to raise $100,000 for opportunities for students.
The HeBros is an organization formed about 20 years ago by Tony Hawkins, Jan Guben, Lenny Kaplan and “Babe” Morganstern, a brotherhood of businessmen and community leaders who are Jewish and African American and enjoy traveling and golfing together. Currently there are 22 members of the group.
The SEED School is Maryland’s first and only public, college-preparatory boarding school, offering an extraordinary learning and living experience in preparation for college and beyond. SEED Maryland is located in Southwest Baltimore and serves students who could most benefit from a 24-hour learning environment. SEED Maryland opened in 2008 and graduated its first class in 2015. It
currently serves 400 students in grades 6 through 12.
