Scientific studies have long illustrated the impact of capitalism on rates of mental illness. Living in late-stage capitalism, our value is often equated with what we are able to produce. Achievement and capability are prized over connection and relationship, stories which are internalized during childhood, resulting in loud “inner critics,” low self-esteem, and low self-worth.

In this experiential workshop, participants will discuss how these factors impact mental wellness of clinicians and clients; explore how fostering forgiveness and radical self-acceptance can mitigate the negative mental health impacts; and participate in hands-on exercises to improve professional skills and competencies in compassion practice for clients and professionals.
