Weekend Backpacks, a local nonprofit that provides meals for food-insecure families in Baltimore, will host its first in-person event in three years on Monday, Apr. 17, at 6 p.m. at The Valley Mansion in Cockeysville. At the event hosted by WMAR-TV’s Megan Knight, Weekend Backpacks will honor the Maryland Food Bank, and 10 local chefs will be on hand to create innovative dishes (a la “Chopped” on the Food Network) and other tasty small plates. Chefs will come from Jimmy’s Seafood, The Food Market, Zeffert and Gold Catering, The Green Turtle, Saval Foods and other local restaurants.
