Young Vic Presents ‘Yeoman of the Guard’
The Young Victorian Theatre Company will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Yeomen of the Guard ” on July 13 at 3 p.m., July 17 at 7 p.m., July 19 at 7 p.m., July 20 at 3 p.m. at The Gilman School (5407 Roland Ave., Baltimore, Md. 21210).
“The Yeomen of the Guard” is a comic opera by the popular Victorian-era duo librettist G.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. Set in the shadowy Tower of London, The Yeomen of the Guard is Gilbert & Sullivan’s most dramatic and emotionally rich operetta. A tale of disguise, daring escapes, unrequited love, and razor-sharp wit, this production blends heartfelt pathos with the duo’s signature humor and clever wordplay.
The leading roles feature Emily Casey as Elsie, Thomas Hochla as Jack Point; Joseph Regan plays Fairfax, and Ann Fogler plays Phoebe Meryll; Wilfred Shadbolt is played by Spencer Adamson; Dame Carruthers is played by Rebecca Sacks; and James Rogers performs the role of Sgt Meryll.
