J S Edwards Fine Men’s Clothing to Close

A Pikesville fixture for nearly four decades, J S Edwards Fine Men’s Clothing announced it will close its store.

Owners Diane and Edward Steinberg said they have decided to retire rather than renew their lease at the Festival At Woodholme.

J S Edwards moved to the shopping center 31 years ago and is the sole original tenant to be still operating there.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our role as a fixture in the Baltimore retail community and we recall fond memories of serving generations of customers dressing them for milestone events, from their first blue blazer to the last dinner jacket,” said Edward Steinberg. “It has been a privilege to satisfy a need within the men’s clothing community for so many years, offering brands that no one else in the area carries.

“We will miss our customers, our staff and the greater Baltimore community but we will remain a part of the community and continue to connect in other ways,” he said.

J S Edwards opened its doors in April of 1983 at the Pikesville Hilton Hotel. The boutique men’s clothier quickly became one of Baltimore’s finest men’s stores, serving politicians, athletes, TV personalities, doctors, lawyers and the greater business community.

Voted “Baltimore’s Best” by Baltimore magazine for 15 consecutive years, the retailer was also recognized as one of Esquire Magazine’s Top 100 Men’s Specialty Stores in the United States.

J S Edwards has received numerous awards including Maryland Retailer of the Year and Baltimore County Business of the Year.

J S Edwards will start its “Going out of Business/ Retirement Sale” on Thursday Apr. 8, 2021 with savings throughout the entire store from 20-60% off. All merchandise, fixtures, racks, office equipment will also be available for sale.
