With communal life just starting to wake up, the countdown is on for the return of the Pikesville Farmers Market.

A community staple presented by the Pikesville-Owings Mills Regional Chamber, the market — which is celebrating its 20th season — starts on Tuesday, May 18, in the front parking lot of the Ponoma Square shopping center at 1700 Reisterstown Rd. in Pikesville, a block south of exit 20 of I-695.

Held every Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m., the market runs through Nov. 30.

Organizers request that vendors and visitors observe such COVID-19 safety guidelines as wearing face masks at all times, maintaining social distancing (at least six feet of space), avoiding congregating, frequent hand-sanitizing, no touching of produce or products (unless planning to purchase items), and eating all hot food off the market grounds.

Also, no pets are allowed on the market grounds, with the exception of service animals on leashes, to discourage the clustering of visitors.

“From day one of opening in June 2020, we implemented one-way lanes, COVID signage, crowd control measures, hand sanitizer stations, and an enforced mask policy,” POM reported on its website. “Every vendor offers hand sanitizer to help keep you safe. We are proud that no case of COVID-19 was traced to our market.”
