About LaFontaine E. Oliver

LaFontaine E. Oliver is president and general manager of Baltimore’s WYPR public radio station. He previously served as president and general manager at WMFE in Orlando, Florida, for six years.
Since coming to WYPR in July of 2019, Oliver helped launch a health reporting desk and the weekday podcast The Daily Dose for news and information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Oliver also recently led WYPR’s successful efforts to acquire WTMD from Towson University.
Last year saw a dramatic increase in audience ratings for WYPR, and the station received a record number of industry honors for its work in 2020, including seven first-place awards from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association and two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Oliver holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Baltimore and Towson University, and a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from the University of Miami.
He lives in Ednor Gardens-Lakeside with his wife, Denise, and has two adult children.
