Few life transitions are more exciting or more stressful than buying or selling a home. Baltimore realtor Jason Perlow, who leads the Perlow Home Team, is keenly aware of the challenges buyers and sellers face in today’s real estate market.
“Since COVID, the market been crazy, but things are starting to cool off,” says Perlow. “I know that a lot of people are concerned about inflation. Obviously, rising interest rates mean that some buyers have postponed their searches for now. High interest rates are also going to affect how sellers price their homes. It’s an adjustment for sellers who look back at recent sales in their neighborhoods and expect to sell at comparable prices.”
Yet, Perlow sees some bright spots in today’s market.
“For buyers, this is the first time we’re seeing a decent amount of inventory on the market in quite a while. Buyers will have more options throughout the summer and fall.”
With interest rates hovering around 6%, Perlow reminds prospective home buyers that “from a historical perspective, they’re still pretty low.”
As for sellers, Perlow advises them to be realistic yet aggressive about pricing their homes.
“To get top dollar in this market, you’ll need to prep your home so that buyers see it in the best light possible.”
