North Oaks Resident Charles ‘Chuck’ Donen Dies at Age 93

Pikesville resident Charles “Chuck” Donen passed away on Tuesday, June 6, at the age of 93. Last December, Jmore posted an article about Donen and his wife of nearly 67 years, Ellen, when the wedding of their grandson was livestreamed to Pikesville’s North Oaks Senior Living community, where they lived since 2015. The Donens were unable to attend the wedding in West Point, New York.

Besides his wife, Donen is survived by his children, Steven R. Donen, and Cindy Ann (Rabbi Jay R.) Goldstein; his grandchildren, David Hirsh (Nina) Goldstein, Joshua Elan (Rebecca) Goldstein and Shira Yochana Goldstein (Daniel Greenberg); and his great-grandchildren, Mo Goldstein and Melia Goldstein.

Funeral services will be held at Sol Levinson’s Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Rd. in Pikesville, on Thursday, June 8, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery in Reisterstown.

Contributions in Donen’s memory may be sent to the Rabbi Jay R. Goldstein Shleimut Fund, Beth Israel Congregation, 3706 Crondall Lane, Owings Mills, Maryland 21117. The family will be in mourning at 20 Cotswold Court in Owings Mills. The family will also be in mourning at North Oaks, 725 Mount Wilson Lane, from 2 to 3:30 on Friday afternoon.
