Conservative Movement Leaders to Assemble in Baltimore This Weekend

Hundreds of the top leaders of the Conservative/Masorti movement will come together in Charm City this weekend and early next week for the Rabbinical Assembly’s “T’nuah B’yahad: To Build their Movement Together” shabbaton and conference.

Rabbis, cantors, congregational leaders, movement leaders, teens, young adults and others will gather tonight, Dec. 1, before the start of Shabbat and through next Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel to discuss discuss contemporary Judaism and spirituality, Israel and antisemitism, and other topics pertinent to the Conservative movement. Among the speakers will be Krista Tippett, the Peabody Award-winning journalist, author and entrepreneur

At workshops and meetings, attendees will learn about models and approaches to enhance their home communities. They will also discuss the Israel-Hamas war; American and Israeli hostages in Gaza; violence on American streets, including antisemitic violence; climate and sustainability; the latest in kashrut regarding meatless options; the spiritual wisdom of Bob Dylan; digital engagement; end-of-life issues and the continued impact of COVID-19 on congregations.

Concerts include the musical groups Shul Sisters and Divas on the Bima, as well as Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz, an educator and facilitator of Jewish communal prayer, and her ensemble.
