Since 1915, Attman’s Delicatessen of “Corned Beef Row” has been a genuine Baltimore tradition and institution. Recently, the family-owned business opened a third location at 1401 Point Street at Harbor Point, a new 27-acre development that includes a 17-story building with apartments and 18,000 square feet of street-level retail space.

Having served the Charm City community for more than a century at 1019 E. Lombard Street, Attman’s also has a location in Potomac.
Attman’s Harbor Point features indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as a full-service bar. Their menu is expansive and includes all of the overstuffed sammies Attman’s famous for, including the best corned beef in town (IMHO), reubens, smoked whitefish salad, Bubbie’s chopped liver, pastrami, salami and a host of sides, apps and noshes.
Attman’s Harbor Point is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to indoor and outdoor dining areas, the new Attman’s location has a full-service bar, take-out service and catering.
As noted on their website, Attman’s delivers nationwide! (attmansdeli.com). No doubt, the deli’s Russian-born founder, Harry Attman, would be mighty proud.
A Whole Lotta Crust
Crust by Mack recently opened in the Pratt Street Pavilion at Harborplace in the spot previously occupied by Edo Sushi. They’re the first temporary tenant brought in by MCB Real Estate, which is renting space to small local businesses as they work to establish their revitalization plan for the historic waterfront property. Harborplace opened in 1980 and was the first in a series of “festival marketplaces” pioneered by James Rouse of The Rouse Co. (Others included the South Street Seaport in New York, Faneuil Hall in Boston and The Shops at National Place in Washington, D.C.)
Harborplace became a major tourism destination, offering unique shops and eateries, outdoor entertainment and was part of the downtown Bmore renaissance along with the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center and Pier Six Concert Pavilion. It has since fallen into disrepair, with just a handful of remaining tenants.
Crust by Mack started as a pop-up bakery concept in 2018. Two years later during the pandemic, they opened a brick-and-mortar, albeit a small counter space, in Whitehall Market in Hampden. Now, they have expanded into a 3,600-square-foot space in an iconic location, leading the way for other local vendors to make their mark on the downtown food scene.
The small-batch bakery features their very popular hand pies (yep, hand-sized pies), tarts, cookie and biscuits. Their Bmore Crust Crabpie (lump Maryland crab dip tucked inside flaky pastry) sells out almost immediately, so pre-order online! Check out the spinach crostinis, banana chocolate chip loaf, oven-fried chicken biscuits, chicken meatball hand pies, bananas foster oatmeal, shrimp crust and Old Bay chocolate chip cookies.
Now with Crust by Mack’s much larger spot, expect their menu to expand. (Visitcrustbymack.com)
Meanwhile, Famous Bennie’s Pizza has opened in The Mall in Columbia, serving New York-style specialty pies, build-your-own pizzas, heroes, wings and sides.
What’s the difference between Bennie’s and other pizza places? Their menu was created by Michelin-starred chef and pizzaiolo Gerald Addison, of Grazie Nonna, Rose Compass and Maydan in D.C. (Visit benniespizzas.com)
Coming Soon
This spring, Primanti Brothers restaurant and bar will open its first location in the region, at 996 Corporate Boulevard in Linthicum Heights.
The 91-year-old, Pittsburgh-based restaurant is known for its “Almost Famous” sandwich — which is piled high with grilled meat and provolone cheese, topped with French fries, two tomato slices and a homemade sweet and sour slaw — all piled high between two slices of thick-cut Italian bread. Connoisseurs are known to add a fried egg to the sandwich, too.
In addition to its sandwiches, the Primanti Bros’ menu includes traditional American favorites like burgers, wings and pizza. The restaurant will also feature a full bar and a selection of craft and domestic beers, as well as liquor and signature cocktails. (Visit primantibros.com)
