The BMA’s new exhibition looks at the relationship between artmaking and the natural world exploring issues such as sustainability, exploitative practice and sustainable futures. The show includes 20 objects from around the world created from the 14th through 21st centuries.

Black Earth Rising

Nature is the focus of Black Earth Rising, an exhibition that explores how art can be a tool of resistance against social and environmental injustices. The exhibition features paintings, sculpture and films by Black and Native American artists including Firelei Báez, Alejandro Piñero Bello, Teresita Fernández, Sky Hopinka, Tyler Mitchell, Wangechi Mutu, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Yinka Shonibare.

For the past 37 years, the Baltimore Jewish Film Festival has brought outstanding films of Jewish interest to the community. This year’s offerings include “Stella: A Life”, “Matchmaking 2”, “No Name Restaurant” and “This is my Mother.” Each film is preceded by a guest presentation.
