Part of the BMA’s “Preoccupied: Indigenizing the Museum” project, Caroline Monnet’s new installation, inspired by eel trap pots created by Indigenous people of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and traditional Anishinaabe longhouses, is one step toward recognizing and fighting the effects of colonialism.

Over the course of her brilliant and prolific career, award-winning author Margaret Atwood has written 18 poetry books, 11 non-fiction books, nine short story collections and 18 novels. “The Handmaid’s Tale,” arguably her most famous novel, inspired the Emmy Award-winning Hulu series of the same name. Atwood is this year’s lecturer for the Robert and Jane Meyerhoff Visiting Professorship at Goucher.
