Dan + Claudia to Perform at Monkton’s Manor Mill
Pikesville residents and married musical duo Dan and Claudia Zanes (aka Dan + Claudia) will perform on Friday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Manor Hill, at 2029 Monkton Road in Monkton.
The Dan + Claudia concert is an all-ages record release concert party to promote their latest Smithsonian Folkways album, “Pieces of Home.” Also on hand will be their third band member, Tyree Austin, a recent graduate of Howard University’s jazz vocal program.
Dan Zanes is a Grammy Award-winning rocker turned family music entertainer, while Claudia Zanes is a Haitian-American jazz vocalist/music therapist. They have been singing together since 2016, and recently returned from a three-week tour of Finland and Estonia.
They moved to Pikesville from Brooklyn, New York, shortly before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Released in September, “Pieces of Home” was hailed by World Music Central as “a beautiful weaving of tradition and belonging. … Each track hums with the spirit of kinship, inviting listeners to relax into the moment, surrounded by those who matter most.” Among the musicians who perform on the album are Baltimore-based roots musicians Brad and Ken Kolodner.
