Pikesville-Based Clothier Brian Gene Lefko Dies at Age 79

A local haberdasher and businessman, Brian Gene Lefko passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19. The Northwest Baltimore native and Pikesville resident was 79.

A 1963 graduate of Baltimore City College, he was the owner, operator and namesake of Brian Lefko Men’s Clothier, at 303 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville.

In a post on the website of Sol Levinson & Bros., Karrol Kowitz wrote that Lefko “always had a smile on his face and loved to tell jokes. That’s the way I remember him … Brian will truly be missed.”

Wrote Paul Cooper: “I met Brian through my late cousin Howard Kirk. I often looked forward to visiting him to purchase numerous items over the years. He was always a pleasure to be around and I valued his clothing advice. Brian’s memory will live on through my fond memories of him and his name being sewn into so many of my suit jackets.”

Lefko is survived by his children, Steven Lefko and Dana (Eric) Widerman; sister-in-law, Susan Lefko; and grandchildren, Beckett Widerman and Samara Widerman.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Iris (Gerson) Stutman and Mark Lefko; and parents, David and Sarah Lefko.

Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Sol Levinson’s Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville. Interment Oheb Shalom Memorial Park, 430 Berrymans Lane in Reisterstown.

Contributions in his memory may be sent to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.

The family will be in mourning at 705 Ivy Hill Road, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030, from Tuesday following interment, Wednesday beginning at noon, and Thursday from noon until 4 p.m. Evening services will be held Tuesday and Wednesday.
