Don’t let a pandemic stop you from doing some good in the world.
From Sept. 13 to Oct. 15, Jewish Volunteer Connection will offer a month of volunteering opportunities virtually and in person throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.
“Season of Service” will kick off JVC’s “Days of Service” series held four times throughout the year in which volunteers come together at various sites and programs to donate their time and services to the community.
“This season, see firsthand how service connects to issues of racial justice as you join Jewish Volunteer Connection for a month of both in-person and virtual volunteering, reflection and learning throughout the High Holy Days,” read a statement from JVC. “‘Season of Service’ offers opportunities for every age, interest, and ability throughout the month. There are also opportunities to volunteer at various other community locations, participate in a trash scavenger hunt, serve food and watch the game with local veterans, donate school supplies, knit or crochet hats and scarves and brighten the day of seniors.”
Among the activities will be a virtual soup kit-making party; helping to prepare lunches at Beans & Bread, a homeless day resource program in Fells Point; assembling care packages at the local nonprofit ShareBaby; and a virtual session on how to make “gratitude cards.”
There will also be a Zoom discussion on race presented by the Baltimore Jewish Council and the Jewish Museum of Maryland, as well as do-it-yourself community cleanup projects.
JVC is a program of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore that matches volunteers with hands-on community service projects. Jmore is a co-sponsor of “Season of Service.”
