“To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven,” submits the Book of Ecclesiastes, in a line made even more famous by The Byrds.
And last Sunday evening, July 25, after so much social and communal distancing, it was a time to rock and come together.
More than 250 people attended the “Summer Music Fest — Here For Good Community Concert” presented by The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore. The four-hour event was held at the Pearlstone Retreat Center and Outdoor Education Campus in Reisterstown, on the grounds of the former Camp Milldale.
Among the performers were local musicians Paul Weinberg, Dave Markowitz and Matt Chase — members of The Bridge, Jazz is Phsh and Psycho Killers — as well as the 19th Street Band, a local bluegrass outfit.
Attendees were invited to bring picnic fare, comfortable chairs and blankets to celebrate the sounds of summer and simply gathering again as a community. Proceeds went to The Associated’s 2022 annual campaign.
