On Sunday, June 4, the Owings Mills Jewish Community Center hosted more than 3,500 people for its fourth annual Community Block Party.
The five-hour indoor-outdoor event featured food trucks, arts and crafts, carnival games, moon-bounces, face-painting and entertainment by children’s music performer Barry Louis Polisar.
Also performing at the block party were the Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble and magician and illusionist Brian Rudo. In addition, the JCC previewed its brand new and highly anticipated zip-line.
“Tons of kids tried it out,” said Paul Lurie, the JCC’s chief operating officer.
The program also included local vendors — including Jmore, which was a media sponsor of the event — and more than 60 sponsors representing Baltimore’s Jewish community and the community at large.
“The Block Party is a great opportunity for community organizations to showcase the great work they are doing,” said Lurie. “In one day, families can spend a few hours doing activities and also learning about all of these community resources. We had great weather, strong participation and we look forward to doing it again next year.”
