Third-generation home improvement professionals Harley and Aaron Magden know windows inside and out!
When they decided to start Window Nation in 2006, the Cleveland natives chose to headquarter the business and open their first showroom in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region.
“We liked the area; we liked the fact that it was near so many other major cities; we liked the housing stock and we liked the stability of the economy here,” says Harley, who lives with his family in Howard County.
“We built on the foundations that our father and grandfather taught us about great customer service, marketing and sales.”
Those lessons have proven invaluable. Nowadays, Window Nation is the largest non-franchise window retailer in the entire country with showrooms in 17 different markets. Window Nation is consistently ranked among Inc. 5000’s list of fastest growing private companies in America and has an A rating with the Better Business Bureau.
The secret to the company’s success? Superb customer service.
“We developed a 10-step selling process,” says Harley. “We put our sales reps. through 100 hours of training before they even step foot in the customer’s home.”
Window Nation is different than competitors in other ways too.
“We don’t do cold calls. We don’t knock on doors,” says Harley. “We advertise and people call us up when they’re interested in getting a quote. We send a consultant out and they educate the consumer about our products.”
The Magdens understand that not every customer has the same needs. So, Window Nation offers many options.
“We find a product and a solution that meets your needs and your budget. “We also have a lot of different financing options to make it affordable,” says Harley.
Once the customer chooses their product, Window Nation oversees the installation process. “We’re easy to get hold of and we deliver a great product, and great installation too. Our crews only do window installation so we get it right the first time!” says Harley.
“Our goal is to make the customer experience seamless.”
