Beth Tfiloh Rabbi Gets Engaged in Front of Colleagues and Students at Kabbalat Shabbat Service

Now that’s what you call the definition of self-confidence: proposing marriage to someone in front of your colleagues, students, friends and a roomful of smartphones.

But that’s exactly what Beth Tfiloh Congregation’s Rabbi Dr. Eli Yoggev did last Friday afternoon, March 18, at a Kabbalat Shabbat service for preschoolers, in front of Rabbis Mitchell Wohlberg and Chai Posner, as well as Zipora Schorr, director of education at Beth Tfiloh.

And wonder of wonders, the kallah-to-be Phaygi Chinn — the Pikesville synagogue’s nursery camp director– said yes!

Here is a video of the proposal and subsequent celebration. A hearty mazel tov to the couple on their upcoming nuptials!
