To celebrate the conclusion of “Military Appreciation Month,” American Legion Liberty Post 122 held a Memorial Day ceremony and luncheon on Friday morning, May 27, at Atrium Village senior living community in Owings Mills to honor 25 resident veterans there.

Each veteran, representing all of the branches of the U.S. military, received a special pin of the American flag designed in white with a helmet and cross.

Among the World War II veterans honored during the program were Joseph Warzinski (U.S. Air Force), Dr. John Milton Belcher (U.S. Army) and David Rosenberg (U.S. Air Force).

Other veterans honored were Lew Gross, Marty Zuckerman, Carolyn Brown, Sallie Smith and Helen Hall.

In attendance was Brig. Gen. Edward H. Ballard, a decorated 30-year veteran who serves in the Maryland Army National Guard, and American Legion Post 122 Commander William Fitzgerald.

Atrium Village, which recently completed a $13 million renovation, includes 187 new independent living apartments, 58 assisted living and 20 memory care residences.
