History of Jewish Cemeteries of German Hill Road Chronicled by Preservation Group

Did you know that a Medal of Honor recipient is buried in one of the historic Jewish cemeteries along German Hill Road on the east side of town?

You can learn about Staff Sgt. Isadore S. Jachman, who saved his company during the Battle of the Bulge, and other historical tidbits regarding the Jewish cemeteries of German Hill Road in the latest installment of Baltimore Heritage’s “Five Minute Histories.”

Joining Johns Hopkins, executive director of the Baltimore Heritage preservation group and host of “Five Minute Histories,” is Dr. Deborah R. Weiner, co-author of “On Middle Ground; A History of the Jews of Baltimore” (Johns Hopkins University Press) and occasional columnist for Jmore.
