From tulip-filled beds at Sherwood Gardens to black-eyed Susans at the Preakness, flowers are shooting up everywhere.
Happily, the runways are no exception. This spring, designers took their cues from Mother Nature and sent models strutting down the catwalk in head-to-toe matching floral patterns, including shoes and purses.
While donning one of these straight-from-the-runway ensembles might ruffle some feathers here in “Oriole Land,” a floral-patterned dress is an easy way to embrace the trend without raising any eyebrows. Thanks to their budding popularity, it’s easy to find a flower-festooned dress in just your style.
A favorite of Kate Middleton, designer Erdem Moralioglu is known for his innovative use of fabric and prints. His latest collection takes inspiration from vintage Japanese kimonos featuring lush chrysanthemum and plum blossom motifs. Take a page out of the duchess’s book and balance vibrant, multi-colored dresses with simple heels and delicate accessories.
Less structured, Fuzzi Spa’s block-printed stretch tulle and jersey dresses offer elegance with the convenience of being wrinkle-resistant and hand-washable. Slip on Fuzzi’s midi dress in flattering hues such as Amalfi blue with raspberry cherry blossoms for an instantly elegant look.
Also on trend are abstract, Monet-inspired prints, ditsy-sprinkled maxi dresses, yoked minis sprouting nosegay and airy silk dresses imprinted with bouquets of phlox.
