Billed as “the ultimate furry fun and games family experience,” “Dogfest” is the Baltimore Humane Society’s biggest annual fundraising and community event. Despite the oppressive heat, the six-hour gathering was held on Sept. 16, at BHS’ Reisterstown headquarters at 1601 Nicodemus Road.

Proceeds from “Dogfest 2017” go toward benefiting all of the animals at the BHS’s private, non-profit, no-kill shelter.

Activities included a 1-mile trail walk, games, contests, swimming, demonstrations, vendors and lots of food. There was also a moon-bounce, crafts, a fitness course and a bubble ball, as well as paw painting, costumes and agility courses.

Wendy Goldband, BHS’s marketing and public relations director, estimated that several thousand people and their pets attended “Dogfest 2017.”

“We were very pleased with this year’s event,” she said. “We had a huge number of people who came to enjoy, all day long. It was great.”

Among the media sponsors of “Dogfest 2017” were Jmore and PressBox.
