This month, we can mark our calendars for everything from comedy and concerts to street festivals and networking events. Celebrate Pride 2018, pay tribute to Amy Winehouse and unravel the mystery of Harry Houdini. Here are some of our top event picks for June, 2018.

Dave Chappelle — The Silver Spring native best known as the force behind Comedy Central’s “Chappelle’s Show” — and for leaving it at the height of its popularity — has returned to standup. If you’ve seen any of his recent Netflix specials, you know the comedian is back in rare form and worth catching live. Hope you got your tickets early, this one’s sold out!
The Modell Lyric, June 8

BritFest — We’re not sure how we missed this event last year, but we fancy any excuse to toast Queen Elizabeth with a pint or two on the occasion of her 92nd birthday, view some classic MGs, listen to some classic BritPop and take in a polo match.

HONfest — The Hampden tradition celebrates 25 years of big hair and big dreams. Get out your tightest, stretchiest leopard print get-up and tease that hair into a full beehive, Hon. It doesn’t get much more Bmore than this, so get ready to do the twist to more than 36 musicians on three stages and indulge in some tasty treats from local food vendors.

Baltimore Pride Weekend — Let those rainbow flags fly! This three-day celebration kicks off with Twilight on the Terrace, includes the legendary block party (at Station North) and parade (on Charles Street) and culminates with a festival at Druid Hill Park. There will also be all sorts of Pride-related events — from movie screenings to wine tastings — at various venues around town.

4th Annual Baltimore Wine Festival — No, Baltimore isn’t exactly known for its wineries, but that shouldn’t stop you from drinking wine in Baltimore! This event includes more than 160 wines from around the world, lots of gourmet nibbles, cooking demos and even wine seminars — so you can seem smart and imbibe at the same time!

Matisyahu

Matisyahu — The reggae/rock/hip hop artist brings his unique sound — think “King without a Crown” — to Baltimore for the Concerts at the Port series. These days, Matisyahu isn’t just a singer; it’s also a band.
(Additionally, Matisyahu performs at Ocean City’s Seacrets with Stephen Marley on June 13.)

Back to Black: A Tribute to Amy Winehouse — There’s no replacing those killer pipes, but we’ll take any opportunity to hear a revival of the 2006 Grammy Award-winning album “Back to Black.” This performance features Remember Jones with a 12-piece orchestra and special guests.
Rams Head Live, June 22

The Daily Show Writers — There’s too much goodness this month at Rams Head Live. David Angelo, Matt Koff, Joseph Opio and Kat Radley perform some “political-ish” comedy. After, they’ll stick around for a Q&A session on how the Emmy Award-winning show is produced. Get the insider scoop!

“Inescapable: The Life of Harry Houdini” — What do you really know about the world’s most famous magician? This exhibit provides insight into the illusionist and escape artist who would become the first international superstar. In addition to sampling some of Houdini’s magic tricks, visitors also have the opportunity to learn more about the magician’s Maryland appearances. He performed approximately 100 shows here. Expect special events and programs at the museum during the show’s run.
