International Edgar Allan Poe Festival

Join Poe Baltimore for an eerie two-day celebration of macabre author Edgar Allan Poe. Immerse yourself in a Poe-themed world filled with performances, vendors, booksellers, music and more. Don’t miss the Ravenbeer Garden featuring Baltimore’s very own Ravenbeer. Poe Park, Oct. 6-7

Garden Glow

A magical fall celebration awaits you at Ladew Gardens. Be mesmerized by illuminated sculptures, glowing jack o’lanterns and creatures of the night. Snack on local foods while you learn about creepy critters like bats and spiders or sip on spirits while you boogie to live music. Proceeds support Ladew’s environmental education programming for children. Ladew Topiary Gardens, Oct. 20

 

Exploring Jewish Film: “To Be or Not to Be”

Travel back in time as director Ernst Lubitsch turns a satiric eye on Nazism. The story is centered on a theater troupe who is working on an anti-Nazi play when Poland is invaded by Germany. The troupe soon discovers the benefits of their impersonations of Nazis. Following the film, participate in a discussion on the craft of cinema with Christopher Reed from Stevenson University. Parkway Theatre, Oct. 22

John Cusack with ‘Say Anything’

Reminisce on the love story of Lloyd Dobler and Diane Court during a screening of this classic coming-of-age flick. Following the film, star John Cusack (who, incidentally, once played Poe in “The Raven”) will reflect on the making of “Say Anything” and share career anecdotes. Conjure your inner Halloween spirit for a day full of ghosts, ghouls and frights. Start the day off with lantern making, hayrides, live music and local food. When the sun sets, join in on the lantern parade or watch from the sides decked out in your own glow gear. If you make your way to the end of the parade route, be prepared to show off your best moves for one last bit of fun at the dance party. Patterson Park, Oct. 27
