This year, the national nonprofit organization Friends of the Israel Defense Forces will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its founding. The Baltimore chapter has the dubious distinction of being the only chapter in the United States to hold an in-person, community-wide event in 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The chapter will honor Israel’s men and women on the frontlines on Monday, Dec. 6, at Martin’s West, 6817 Dogwood Rd. in Northwest Baltimore. The “One Israel. One People. One Future” gala will also honor local leaders Bill and Myra Fox for their support of Friends of the IDF.

At the gala, IDF military personnel Lt. Michal, an Iron Dome commander, Staff Sgt. B., vice commander for his team’s officer, and Druze soldier Capt. Rayan will be featured during the program.

At the same time, the inaugural “FIDF Baltimore Cooks for Kedem” cookbook is now available for purchase to support the efforts of Baltimore’s adopted unit deployed overseas and in Israel to conduct search-and-rescue missions. Sherry Mauer and Cindy Stern serve as “FIDF Baltimore Cooks for Kedem” co-chairs.
Serving as gala co-chairs are Berly and Avi Hershkovitz and Tova and Rony Natanzon, as well as Marty Taylor, president of the Baltimore chapter
