Veteran local radio broadcaster Meredith Marx will bring her popular program “The Yacht Club” to BMSC Media’s WNAV in Annapolis, starting Sunday, May 22.

Airing on 89.7 WTMD over the past three years, “The Yacht Club” focuses on the smooth pop musical stylings –- well-known and obscure — from the 1970s, ‘80s and early ‘90s.

“We aren’t just ‘Yacht Rock,’ although there is a lot mixed in,” said Marx, alluding to the soft rock music genre that dominated FM radio airwaves during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Among the better-known practitioners of “Yacht Rock” are America, Christopher Cross, and Seals & Crofts.

“Yacht Rock,” at its finest.

For more than two decades, Marx has worked in local radio as a news and traffic reporter, deejay and radio personality for 100.7 The Bay and other local rock stations. She has also done voiceover and podcasting work.

A Reisterstown native who lives in Towson, Marx, 43, attended Baltimore Hebrew Congregation and graduated from Pikesville High School. She studied mass communications at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts, and at Towson University.

“The Yacht Club” will be heard on WNAV every Sunday morning at 10 and can be heard locally on 99.9 FM and 1430 AM in Annapolis. It can also be heard on WNAV.com and the iHeartRadio, Audacy and TuneIn apps.

“I am thrilled to take ‘The Yacht Club’ to its new home at WNAV,” Marx said in a statement. “Great things are going to be happening at this station and it will be fun to be a part of it. I know ‘The Yacht Club’s’ current audience will love WNAV as it blends well with what I play on the show already and vice versa. I cannot wait for more people to set sail with us back to the ‘70s and ‘80s, get reacquainted with those decades and even build the younger audience who are hearing these great songs for the first time. It’s a family friendly show for all ages and a great way to spend your Sunday morning.”

Said WNAV Managing Partner Chris Roth: “‘The Yacht Club’ is a natural fit for WNAV and Annapolis. We are happy to have Meredith’s program and enthusiasm with us here in the sailboat capital of the world as we build off the legacy left to us by [former WNAV owner and longtime ‘Wheel of Fortune’ host] Pat Sajak, while continuing to enhance the programming to serve Maryland’s state capital and beyond.”
