Avery Miler, 27, a resident of Southeast Washington, D.C., has been identified as the suspect in the Aug. 10 murder of Northwest Baltimore resident Aryeh Isaac Wolf, 25.

An arrest warrant was issued by D.C. Superior Court charging Miler with first-degree murder while armed. Miler lives at several different addresses, including one in Southwest Washington, according to public records. The U.S. Marshals Service has joined the search for Miler.

Southeast Washington, D.C., resident Avery Miler is a suspect in the homicide of Aryeh Isaac Wolf.

The homicide took place in the 5100 block of Call Place in Southeast D.C. at approximately 3:41 p.m. while Wolf was installing solar panels outside of an apartment complex in the Marshall Heights neighborhood. He was reportedly shot at close range, which was captured on video surveillance.

According to WJLA-TV, witnesses said they heard five shots and saw Wolf lying on a sidewalk shortly after he was working on an electrical box. Witnesses said they believe the shooter was on foot and ran away after the attack.

According to court records, Miler was recently incarcerated for assaulting a police officer. “We want everybody looking for this individual. This person is armed and dangerous,” said Capt. Kevin Kentish of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington.

Said Al Maresca, deputy marshal with the U.S. Marshals Service: “Miler already had a warrant out for failure to appear. This guy knows he’s a fugitive. He’s on the run. He has no qualms about pulling a gun on someone and taking his life.”

The police said they do not know the motive for the homicide. “The suspect walked up to him, fired multiple rounds and fled the location,” said Capt. Kentish.

Emergency medical services transported Wolf to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased after all life-saving efforts were exhausted.

A 2015 Talmudical Academy of Baltimore graduate whose mother is a Bais Yaakov School for Girls principal, Wolf is survived by his wife, Mindy Wolf (nee Aron); his six-month-old daughter, Zahava Wolf; his parents, Asher and Elise Wolf; and his siblings, Hadassah (Zaycharia) Blackstrin, Leah (Shimon) Deutsch, Shlomo (Adina) Wolf and Shmuel Wolf.

Funeral services were held Aug. 11 at Sol Levinson’s Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Rd. in Pikesville. Interment was at Chevra Ahavas Chesed cemetery in Randallstown.
