Pikesville’s North Oaks Senior Living community recently announced that a multi-million-dollar renovation of its facility is underway.
The renovation will modernize the first and second floors, including the dining room, library, reception area and social hall. Currently in the planning and design phase, the first and second floor renovations are expected to be completed by late 2023.
The project follows ongoing apartment renovations undertaken by the community’s new ownership since the beginning of the year. The last major renovations at North Oaks, located at 725 Mount Wilson Lane, were conducted 11 years ago.
“North Oaks is a wonderful home to residents who are deeply connected to the local community,” said Michael Biderman, CEO and owner of North Oaks. “We want to make it the best it can be, both in appearance and in how we care for each and every resident.”
North Oaks was acquired from Life Care Services at the beginning of this year. North Oaks Executive Director Reuben Rosenfeld was brought onboard in June, and retirement community consultants were hired to study the market and make recommendations on maximizing North Oaks’ potential.

Pikesville-based ARK Design was chosen to lead the renovation project. Founded by Adele Greenebaum, ARK Design will oversee space planning and construction, schematic conceptual design, interior design, construction administration, and artwork and accessory selection.
“We are excited to have retained Adele to oversee the renovation project,” said Biderman. “She, too, is tightly connected to the local community, and we are confident that her expertise will beautifully update and modernize the first and second floor spaces to better meet the needs of our residents.”

Rosenfeld said he believes the future for the retirement community is bright. “2023 will unveil a new North Oaks,” he said
