Baltimore to Host the 2023 Mini & Jr. Maccabi Games in May

On Sunday, May 7, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore will host the 2023 Mini & Jr. Maccabi Games. The Mid-Atlantic Mini & Junior Maccabi Games is a one-day tournament for Jewish athletes between the ages of 9-12.

Nearly 800 Jewish athletes from 15-plus JCCs across the mid-Atlantic region compete in the Jewish Youth Olympics. The games help prepare the athletes for the JCC Maccabi Games.

Mini Maccabi is for ages 9-10, while Jr. Maccabi is for ages 11-12 (as of Apr. 1, 2023).

The JCC of Greater Baltimore is currently building its delegation of athletes for 2023. Tryouts will be held at the end of this month and in early March. Sports being offered include:

  • Boys and Girls Soccer
  • Boys and Girls Basketball
  • Boys Baseball
  • Boys and Girls Swimming
  • Boys and Girls Tennis

Participants must try out for their respective sports and be accepted onto a team before registering for the program. The JCC is also looking for volunteers to assist with coaching and planning and running the tournament.
