More than 150 runners, ranging in age from eight to 72, participated in the “Run for Remembrance 5K” on Sunday morning, Apr. 23, at the Owings Mills Jewish Community Center.
Held in partnership with Charm City Run, Friends of the IDF and the Shinshinim program of the Jewish Agency for Israel, the run was conducted in memory of Israel’s fallen soldiers and terror victims shortly before the observance Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day.

Yom Hazikaron will be observed at sundown on Monday, Apr. 24, until sundown on Tuesday, Apr. 25.
Each runner received the name of a fallen soldier or terror victim on their race bib, along with a link to their bio, to run in their memory and honor as part of the community-wide Israel @ 75 celebrations.

A light breakfast was served, and a medal-and-memory ceremony followed the race.
The top male/female overall winners were John Ford, 31, of Phoenix, Maryland, with a time of 17:55:32, and Owings Mills resident Lauren Kasoff, 30, with a time of 22:40:85.
The JCC will continue to celebrate Israel @ 75 with a series of community-wide events. Information can be found here.
